Michigan Dark Skies raises public awareness and advocates for environmentally aware lighting that promotes human health and safety, eliminates wasted energy, and restores the ecosystem. Based at the University of Michigan, this community group is open to all and includes concerned citizens in Southeast Michigan and elsewhere. An official Int'l Dark Sky Park located in the State of Michigan, Dr. T.K. Lawless Park (Lawless Park) is nestled within Cass County, in the Southwest corner of the Lower Peninsula. The park, which includes inland lakes and streams, received its namesake from Chicago–based physician, Dr. Theodore Kenneth Lawless, M.D., who posthumously deeded the land, 850 acres, to the County in 1971.
The Keweenaw Mountain Lodge is the headquarters for the Keweenaw Dark Sky Park. Located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the Lodge is a historic resort focused on outdoor activities, rustic worldly food, and education, which works to marry history with the future to get to a vibrant and progressive present.

In conjunction with the Kropscott Environmental Center, SFW Observatory''s goal is to provide local area amateur astronomers the opportunity to observe and study the amazing universe in which we live.
Our Mission is to be the primary contact for natural resource information, support and leadership.
The Newaygo Conservation District was organized in 1949 with the purpose of improving and maintaining soil productivity and for the purpose of obtaining efficient, appropriate and economical use of the land.
