Located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the Lodge is a historic resort focused on outdoor activities, rustic worldly food, and education, which works to marry history with the future to get to a vibrant and progressive present.
An official DarkSky International Park located in the State of Michigan, Dr. T.K. Lawless Park (Lawless Park) is nestled within Cass County, in the Southwest corner of the Lower Peninsula. The park, which includes inland lakes and streams, received its namesake from Chicago–based physician, Dr. Theodore Kenneth Lawless, M.D., who posthumously deeded the land, 850 acres, to the County in 1971.
The Headlands became one of the first 10 International Dark Sky Parks in the world in 2011, a prestigious designation bestowed by DarkSky International in Tucson, Arizona, after a rigorous application and review process. What it means in a nutshell? The Headlands will stay dark and protected, forever, thanks to a commitment by the Emmet County Board of Commissioners.
